I had such an enjoyable afternoon on location "at the farm" today. I don't think you could find a better day to shoot a family portrait. The girls were great fun to work with - very cooperative, with the exception of an encounter with a stray cow patty and a new pair of shoes!

The rain of the past couple of weekends has really put a damper on my end-of-fall shooting schedule, but I was lucky enough to be able to fit the Jones family in today. They were unbelievably easy to work with. All 7 children were perfect little troopers, and just about as beautiful a family as can be found. I ran home and couldn't wait to get my first glimpse of the proofs. A few of my favorites ...

Erin :
I know I'm the mom, but these are the most beautiful pictures of the most beautiful children. Oh, and the dad isn't bad either!

And the apples don't fall far from the tree on the mom's side, either!

Rachel has been undecided on her costume this year. Finally, "the group" decided on Winnie the Pooh characters. I guess it's pretty obvious which one Rachel was assigned.

I'm probably no exception, but I really strongly dislike having my picture taken. It is one of those exercises you get assigned in almost any photography class, and it is a challenge to come up with a way to do a portrait of yourself without actually revealing all those lines and wrinkles! I have fallen off of blogging as regularly as I had been, and I'm hoping to get back on track. It's just that my busy time of year for my studio coincides with my busy time of year with the kids... Something has to give! Anyway, I'll be revisiting the self-portrait challenge to see what I can come up with.

We finally talked the kids into going to the Eastern State Penitentiary for the haunted prison walk. Jim and I had gone a few years ago, and really enjoyed it. It was voted the #1 haunted attraction in the country by AOL. It's amazing that you can actually walk through the crumbling prison at all; it really is in a state of disrepair. Add to that all sorts of scary characters hiding around the corners and in the ceiling, and it is truly, REALLY SCARY! In the first shot below, Al Capone's cell is on the right side of the hall.

The entrance to the prison...
